Taekwondo

Taekwondo is the Korean martial art form and sport. The goal of Taekwondo is to develop the character and personality of the practitioner through physical, mental and spiritual discipline.

Samson (Songeong Park, pictured here in a demonstration in the park outside Church), is our Taekwondo master. He trained in South Korea and taught Taekwondo there as well as Jordan and here in the UK. Samson has trained up a number of Black Belts who join him in leading this ministry.

The club operates on three values, which inform and bring purpose to everything that is taught within the club. These are:
No pain, no gain! (Hebrews 12:11)
No dicipline, no crown! (1 Corinthians 9:25)
No death, no life! (John 12:23-26)

Along with teaching the patterns of Taekwondo (Poomsae), practicing sparring (Gyeorugi), and learning to demonstrate power and skill (Gyeokpa), Samson focuses on teaching discipline and perseverance.

Regular grading exams allow the students to progress and qualify for belts and earning certificates recognised by the World Taekwondo Federation.
